Spanish are 'too poor' for Snapchat

The lawsuit was made by former Snap employee, Anthony Pompliano, against the company where he alleged that Snapchat inflated key growth metrics to mislead investors ahead of the launch of its initial public offering (IPO) of US$3 billion.

Shares in Snap are back above $20 after revealing a brand new feature for the now much copied Snapchat app. "It's available worldwide to download for free", a spokesperson for Snapchat said in a statement to CNN.

Recently, Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snapchat, allegedly made a shockingly disparaging statement about India during a meeting in order to discuss the growth of the app's user base.

It's subtle, but Zuckerberg is very likely alluding to Snapchat's reputation as an app for the affluent, especially in the wake of the India scandal. Snap has dismissed the claims as a publicity stunt.

Relevant exemptions will apply to the new rules, such as for permanent or enduring incapacity and for those under 16 years of age. If an applicant failed the test three times they would have to wait another two years before they could sit it again.

While speaking to a youth website, Fernandes said that he has no bad feelings against Spiegel and has created the app just for fun. "Obviously Snapchat is for everyone. I don't want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain".

Snapchat is strongly denying allegations by a former employee Anthony Pompliano, who alleged in a lawsuit that Spiegel had once shot down his suggestion to pursue growth in certain global markets.

A group of hackers in India claims it has siphoned the private information of 1.7 Snapchat users and leaked it on the darknet, payback for Spiegel's "arrogance".

The comments were first reported in Variety magazine, which says the allegations were contained in a lawsuit brought against Snapchat by Mr Pompliano.
