Petrol pumps Declares Holiday on Sundays from May 14

BEGINNING May 14, fuel outlets in eight States will be shut every Sunday following Prime Minister Narendra Modi' call to conserve oil, a fuel pump owners' body said here on Tuesday.

He added that petrol pumps in the seven states and Puducherry will work from May 15 only on single shift - 9 a.m.to 6 p.m. Suresh Kumar, vice-president of the Tamil Nadu Petroleum Dealers' Association said two days ago that they would keep the petrol pumps shut on Sundays to press for higher commission on the petrol and diesel they sell.

The decision will also be communicated to the oil supplying companies soon, he said almost 20,000 outlets will be closed on the holiday.

"We request all the dealers in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to rise up for creating a clean and prosperous "New India" by declaring Sundays as a holiday from May 14", he said.

Meanwhile, From May 1, state-owned oil companies will change prices of fuel every day in five cities.
