Boy, 8, beaten unconscious days before days before killing himself

Boy, 8, beaten unconscious days before days before killing himself

Other children reportedly step over and point at Gabe Tate as he is on the ground.

The death of the student, Gabriel Taye, is part of a higher than usual number of youth suicides for the region, local media reports.

Two days later, Gabriel hanged himself in his bedroom with a necktie, authorities said.

Eight-year-old Taye, a Carson School student whom Reynolds described as "a shining light to everyone who knew and loved him", hanged himself January 26 after what his family and their legal team claims was an incident of severe physical bullying at school two days before.

The school said it released the surveillance video to be "completely transparent" and reminded the public that "no charges resulted" from an investigation into Gabriel's death.

The 750-student school failed to disclose to Gabriel's mother the events that occurred that day, preventing her from her parental duty of adequately adhering to her child's state.

The demonstrators outside Carson Elementary School on Friday carried signs with slogans that said, "Say no to bullying" and "Honk for Gabe". Students stepped over his body, pointing, mocking, nudging and kicking him, the detective said. Eventually, three adult can be seen entering the bathroom and taking care of Gabriel, who walks out of view of the camera of his own volition. The boy was heavily beaten and then left on the floor unconscious and there was nobody in the whole school to help him. It is now believed that Gabriel hit his head when he fell, although it's unclear whether he struck it on the floor or the wall of the bathroom.

Gabriel Taye killed himself at home on January 26, two days after a disturbing incident inside a restroom at the West Price Hill school. "During our investigation we learned that the Cincinnati police detectives found a video recording of the child two days before he died". (Picture: Reuters) That same night, she took him to the hospital after he started throwing up and he was diagnosed with a stomach flu. Gabriel told school staff that he had fainted a spokesperson from the school shared on Friday. The Hamilton County coroner is reopening the case. "His life was not only stolen from him, but from those of us who expected to watch him grow up and enjoy life". But experts say students don't always report bullying.

Jennifer Branch says during her investigation, she obtained video of Gabe being attacked by another student in the boy's bathroom.

"It is my obligation to make sure that this will never happen again", she said.

In a statement Friday to ABC News, Cincinnati Public Schools said, "Our hearts are broken by the loss of this child, and our thoughts are with his parents and extended family. If I could, I would give anything to have him back".

Cincinnati Public schools released a statement saying that the video evidence does not support that the student was beaten after he collapsed.

A Spartanburg woman is accused of hitting a little boy after he made a Mother's Day card for his grandmother, instead of her.

No charges have been filed, officials said. They said Reynolds decided herself to pick him up from school and that she didn't take him to the hospital until her sister, who was baby-sitting while Reynolds was at work, called to say Gabriel had vomited and was complaining of stomach pains. It then shows Gabriel trying to shake the bully's hand and being thrown against a wall, knocking him unconscious, the attorneys said.
