Erdogan Supporters in Violent Clash with Protesters in Washington

USA officials strongly criticized the Turkish government after video appeared to show its president's security forces pushing past police and violently breaking up a protest outside their diplomatic residence in Washington. One of the men in suits can be seen kicking a woman who had already been knocked to the ground.

The protest turned violent, and nine people were injured.

The Turkish ambassador should be thrown "the hell out of the United States of America" after bodyguards for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan beat and kicked protesters gathered outside the ambassador's Washington D.C. home, Sen.

Police barricaded the perimeter to separate the groups. Police said they were checking reports that some of the attackers worked as bodyguards for the Turkish president.

When President Trump met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan this week, he made sure to bring up the plight of Pastor Andrew Brunson, who is now being detained in Turkey.

"The Turkish-Americans responded in self-defense", said a statement from the Turkish embassy. That guard talks to another man who then begins the fight.

Politicians weighed in as well.

Erdogan said he told the United States that Turkey would not shirk from military engagement if it faced a threat, in a clear reference to the YPG. "There is no excuse for this kind of thuggish behavior", McCain added in his Twitter post.

In public, he has an austere charisma, and is surrounded by an entourage with ties to the Islamic regime's most hardline elements. For example, today I read a poll, according to which Rouhani leads with 46%, but I also saw some polls saying he leads with 60%.

The VOA shows that the member of Erdogan's team who went off to where the violence erupted came back (at around 1:14 in the clip) as the longtime leader in Ankara left his vehicle and looked at the scene before heading inside.

Police said the fighting outside the Turkish ambassador's residence on Tuesday injured 11 people, including a Washington police officer, and led to two arrests for assault.

Washington, D.C., Police Chief Peter Newsham held a news conference Wednesday on the attack on protesters outside the Turkish Embassy in Washington the day before.

The United States is expressing concern over a clash involving protesters and supporters of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The incident poses a series of uncomfortable worldwide relations issues for the current administration, who seem to be increasingly cozying up to Erdoğan despite (or because of) his authoritarian policies.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce on Wednesday sent a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Attorney General Jeff Sessions urging them to examine charges against those responsible. Two people were arrested.

Two men - 49-year-old Ayten Necmi of NY state and 42-year-old Jalal Kheirabaoi from Virginia - were arrested.

Asked what happened, one man bleeding profusely from a cut to his forehead said, "The Turks, the Turks, the Turks attacked us".
