Google takes the covers off Daydream 2.0 at I/O 2017

Google Daydream VR will say goodbye to smartphones as it will soon become a standalone VR.

The report also details the new platform based on standalone headsets is now being developed.

Google is partnering with HTC and Lenovo to build standalone virtual reality headsets.

Google released a trailer to see the WorldSense technology in action. It will feature software support for the devices, a way to get VR content front and centre and a way to share content with others.

It is already known that Google is in the process of coming up with headsets in collaboration with HTC and Lenovo. This way you will be able to jump into VR without being disconnected from the world if you so wish.

UN Condemns North Korea Missile Test, Vows Sanctions
What has North Korea been saying? Australia will work with the United States and other countries to impose sanctions on Pyongyang. The test gives a boost to leader Kim Jong Un as he seeks to show his people that he's standing up to America and South Korea.

Daydream 2.0 will add a dashboard on top of any VR experience so you can check notifications, change settings, pause experiences, and most importantly switch from application to application as you do on your smartphone. Google has also made it easier to program teleportation into games and apps so you don't have to move so much.

Google will team up with Asustek Computer to roll out its second-generation AR-enabled smartphone expecting to launch the new phone in the third quarter of 2017 at the earliest, according to Google.

Providing one of the most immersive platforms to watch videos, the Chrome integration will also give you a shot at watching YouTube videos in all-encompassing VR. Now, this seems somewhat inspired from Facebook Spaces that was showcased last month. Users can surf the VR web through Daydream's remote controller and navigate the web as well as click links. It will also be running on Android O. With the device being standalone, Android O will have a built-in VR window manager to make it more compatible with virtual reality. Google demonstrated that if someone is looking for furniture to buy on the web, they will be only shown the items that can fit in their house as their phone's camera will scan their living space before showing results. They will also be able to take screenshots and share it on social media.

All of that seems pretty interesting, especially when you consider that you will be able to experience all of these within this year.
