GOP lawmaker demands inquiry of Turkish leader's bodyguards

Shortly after the incident, Kilic was recorded shouting "You can not touch us!" at DC police, likely referring to his diplomatic immunity.

In video captured by the Voice of America, a handful of Erdogan's supporters and his security detail rushed the demonstrators and started hitting them.

Police secure the street outside the Turkish Embassy during a visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, May 16, 2017, in Washington, DC. A video showed two men bleeding from the head, and men in dark suits punching and kicking protesters, some lying on the ground.

"We should throw the Turkish ambassador out of the country, we should identify those people that performed these unlawful acts of beating people up and they should be charged", McCain told reporters.

Two men were also arrested by D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department on the scene - Jalal Kheirabaoi of Fairfax, VA, and Ayten Necmi of Woodside, NY, according to police reports.

"Violence is never an appropriate response to free speech, and we support the rights of people everywhere to free expression and peaceful protest", the statement said. They were assaulting these people on U.S. soil. "And I thought, 'okay I'm on the ground already, what is the objective to beat me?'"

Inflation Drops Marginally To 17.24% In April
A survey of its regional agents added that companies were restricting pay rises to the 2.0-2.5 per cent range. Wage growth is lagging behind inflation for the first time since mid-2014, official figures show.

The Trump administration is facing growing calls to respond forcefully to violence on American soil by Turkish presidential guards who were detained but then set free. "We said, 'We can not be in an operation where there are terror organizations". "We just celebrated our President".

Washington and Ankara are bitterly at odds over U.S. support for the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria, which Turkey considers a front for banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) separatists.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday he wanted Brett McGurk, the US special envoy to the coalition against Islamic State, removed from his post, saying he supported Kurdish militants.

Borazan, a Turkey-born Kurdish, wrote in a separate statement on her Facebook account: "Today I experienced firsthand the extent and savagery of Turkish fascism: My Kurdish friends and allies were protesting peacefully against Erdoğan being in Washington when we were suddenly attacked by a group of Erdoğan's official bodyguards and secret police".

Republican Senators Marco Rubio (Florida) and Ted Cruz (Texas) called on the Turkish government to immediately apologize for the violence.

Earlier in the day, McCain was slightly less diplomatic in an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe, saying, "We should throw their ambassador the hell out of the United States of America". Turkey and the United States have branded the PKK a terrorist group, but the United States thinks differently about the YPG and fights with them against ISIS.
