Legends Lahm, Alonso bow out with Bayern

Philipp Lahm will be added to Bayern Munich's Hall of Fame after claiming the Bundesliga title for an eighth time in his distinguished career ahead of his impending retirement.

"It was an emotional last training session with Lahm and Alonso today".

So with a combined 12 league titles, three Champions Leagues, eight domestic cups, two World Cups and two European Championships and 227 worldwide caps between them, it'll be interesting to see who tries to fill the boots of Lahm and Alonso over the next decade.

"I can't name a single particular moment, there have been so many!" he told press on Thursday.

"He has played for many years at a world-class level and I have always felt it a great pleasure and personal enrichment to work with him and to discuss football". The 2008 European Championship final against Spain, the 2010 Champions League final against Inter Milan, the infamous 2012 Champions Final "at home" against Chelsea, followed quickly by a semi-final defeat to Italy at the Euros that summer.

It's the final matchday of the Bundesliga season but, more importantly for most Bayern Munich fans, it's also the final game in the career of Philipp Lahm-one of the best and most important players in the rich history of the German giants.

Lahm rose in the German football rank from Bayern Munich's youth team, then graduated through Bayern Munich II - the reserve team of Bayern Munich - in 2001.

Lahm will lead Bayern out for the final time - on his 517th appearance for the club - at the Allianz Arena this weekend, and boss Carlo Ancelotti paid tribute to his skipper.

So what now? Ever since Lahm announced he would be retiring, rumors have circulated regarding his future.

"Standing on the pitch every day and going through the tiny details of the game - I don't think that's for me".

"I can not imagine going back to Bayern, it will not happen, so there is no other option for me in Germany". I want to do other things, meet new people, learn about different areas. I will take my son to the kindergarten, empty my locker. We'll see about tomorrow.
