Cech wants Arsenal to tie down Sanchez and Ozil

Cech wants Arsenal to tie down Sanchez and Ozil

The north London outfit suffered a disappointing Premier League campaign, finishing outside of the top four for the first time in 21 years.

"Maybe (we are more attractive) but it's one thing saying you're coming to play in the Champions League and another proving you're good enough to play in it".

"Alexis needs to go through some tests", Wenger said.

Cech believes Arsenal can follow Chelsea's lead and bounce straight back into the Champions League - but only if the squad is kept together. And in the big games last season we got the most from games against the top four and this season we have not done so well. Arsenal haven't won the league in 13 years, and it is Wenger who is bearing the full brunt of it.

"We were playing in a hostile environment", the Frenchman told reporters of his side's hard mid-season period.

"Some obviously that you know about and that is very hard for the group of players to cope with that. Again, his free-kick was brilliant, [but] not only him, you can't pick one or two", the midfielder added.

Gerard Collomb told BFM television that British and French intelligence have information that Abedi had been to Syria. The bomber's father, Ramadan Abedi, told the Associated Press that he spoke to his 22-year-old son five days ago.

Liverpool managed to qualify for the 2017-2018 Champions League play-off by defeating Middlesbrough 3-0 Sunday and grabbing fourth place in the English Premier League (EPL) football championship.

Arsenal, on the other hand, will have to settle for the Europa League after not qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years. It's a fantastic competition and I think in the last 10 years Liverpool was not part of it too often.

Arsene Wenger is convinced the Arsenal board is to blame for his side's dismal performances this season after refusing to clarify his future.

"Hopefully now we can stick a few trophies in the cabinet. It could have been tense, but I felt we kept the composure, stayed confident and in the end it was very comfortable".

Wenger also said Arsenal's supporters' protests against shareholder Stan Kroenke - who was loudly and repeatedly told to "get out of our club" - were misplaced. "I don't know who we could [play in the Champions League], I was just focused on getting the win [against Middlesbrough]".
