Watch Bryce Harper vs Hunter Strickland, MLB's Latest Bench-Clearing Brawl

"You can't hesitate. You either go to first base or you go after him".

As Bryce Harper exchanged blows with Giants reliever Hunter Strickland after he plunked the Nationals star, Posey noticeably took a back seat throughout all the action. What ensued was not your typical diamond scuffle, to say the least, ESPN reported.

Harper, 24, pointed his bat at Strickland and charged towards him, throwing his helmet to the ground as he ran. Strickland was so infuriated he needed to be restrained by teammates and physically carried off the field as he was taken away to the Giants clubhouse. He then threw his helmet in Strickland's direction, possibly attempting to hit him and then the two got into a bit of a fist fight.

Down two runs with two outs in the 8th inning, after retiring Trea Turner and Jayson Werth, Strickland stared at his Washington Nationals nemesis Bryce Harper digging into the batter's box. The two have a little history, both of their meetings in 2014 ending with Harper clobbering Strickland for home runs.

Gonzalez split decisions against the Giants last season despite pitching well in both games. Bochy seemed particularly peeved that Strickland chose the eighth inning of a 2-0 game to exact revenge, and you can bet some teammates weren't thrilled. He's got a World Series ring, it's on his finger, he's able to look at it every single night he wants to. Strickland is still caught up in the past (a past in which he became a World Series champion I might add), so if he can't even take the good that comes with the greatest achievement in the game, then my guess is that he's insufferable to be around when the team is losing like they have been this season.

Strickland denied any intent.

Posey's inaction has been getting some of the post-fight headlines, but I think that this shows a lot more about Strickland than it does about the former MVP and current team leader.

May Job Report Hinting at Rate Hikes in 2017
Manufacturing employment fell by 1,000 jobs last month as payrolls in the automobile sector dropped 1,500 amid declining sales. Morgan Private Bank in Los Angeles, said the decline in the broader unemployment measure was a good sign for the economy.

Buster Posey didn't want another concussion.

If "mound-charging aptitude" is a criterion teams use to decide which player to offer more money to in a couple of years, here's an early breakdown.

It appears that Strickland's teammates may be getting exhausted of him and his anger-management issues.

"If anybody gets suspended", Baker said, "the pitcher should get suspended".

Harper, however, also said Strickland did something right if it were an act of vengeance. On Monday, we found out what a fight between them looks like. "So obviously I'd rather miss in than over the plate". "Especially when it's somebody that's in the past", Harper said...

And as the Orioles and Red Sox demonstrated with their series of beanballs last month, there are no hard and set guidelines in a situation like this. "I think you can see from the way their teammates reacted, that was him taking a shot on his own".
