Cosby Jury Asks 2 More Questions As Deliberations Continue

The jurors in Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial said on Thursday (local time) they were deadlocked after more than 30 hours of deliberations, but the trial judge ordered them to resume their discussions.

The jury had said earlier Thursday that they were deadlocked, but Judge Steven O'Neill told them to keep deliberating.

"I want to reiterate how proud I am of each and every one of you", O'Neill said as he sent the sequestered jury back to the hotel.

On Tuesday, the jury reviewed more than a dozen passages from a deposition Cosby gave last decade, listening to excerpts on a wide range of topics, from Cosby's first meeting with Andrea Constand to the night in 2004 she says he drugged and violated her.

In it, he claimed Constand showed no ill effects from the 1 1/2 Benadryl pills he gave her to help her relax, and that she never objected to his behavior during the 2004 encounter at his suburban Philadelphia home.

Bill Cosby shakes hands with his lawyer Brian McMonagle as they leave the Montgomery County Courthouse during Cosby's sexual assault trial, Thursday, June 15, 2017, in Norristown, Pa.

Cosby faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted on all three felony counts.

Prosecutors are likely to argue that Cosby's wealth makes him a flight risk, while the defense will say he is a longstanding member of the community and a bond increase should suffice.

"A quick verdict will not be a good thing for Cosby", says Stuart Slotnick, a NY criminal defense attorney who has been following the case for more than two years. If the jury is unable to come to a unanimous decision the judge will declare a mistrial. If a hung jury is declared, the district attorney will have to decide whether to go forward with re-trying the case.

Constand's case was the exception.

The anti-profiteering provision of GST has been a point of contention between the government and traders. Now, all state governments except Kashmir and Kerala have ratified the act, said Jaitely.

The avalanche of allegations against Cosby, which have mushroomed since late 2014, have already ended the career and pulverized the reputation of a comedy legend who will mark his 80th birthday next month. "You could have a conscientious jury that is taking their civic responsibility very seriously...wanting to do a diligent job of going through the evidence and making sure they understand it correctly", said Bressler, who is co-counsel in the forthcoming sexual assault civil case, Green v. Cosby.

"There's a misperception that there's a time limit", said O'Neill, adding he'd let the jurors work as long as they wanted.

Defense lawyers during the trial emphasised discrepancies in Constand's statements to police in 2005 in an effort to undermine her credibility.

A group of local protesters, holding signs that read "Free Bill", confronted some of Cosby's accusers.

Ms Constand and her mother were in court for the announcement from the jurors.

Mason said Constand didn't recall much after that and said that Cosby lied next to her and assaulted her. Cosby did not testify.

Her attorneys have said she viewed Cosby as a mentor when she worked as a staffer on the Temple University basketball team more than ten years ago.

The case has helped demolish Cosby's nice-guy image, cultivated during his eight-year run as Dr. Cliff Huxtable on the top-rated "The Cosby Show" in the 1980s and '90s.

Later in the day, Wyatt held an impromptu press conference outside the courthouse and said the judge should call a mistrial.
