Perez to remain as Real Madrid president until 2021

"I know Cristiano. He's a good guy as a professional and as a person". But in a later interview with the radio station Onda Cero he revealed he had plans to talk to the player in the coming days.

"I do not want to draw conclusions".

Asked about potential clubs Ronaldo could join, Perez said: "I'm not contemplating Ronaldo leaving". "The point now is whether he really has chose to leave", added Calderon. We have to keep him.

Why does Ronaldo want to leave?

The Portugal captain is reportedly unhappy at constantly being whistled at by his own team's fans, while the recent tax fraud allegations and the resulting negative media reports are said to have been the final straw for the Portuguese.

Bayern have since denied their interest in the player, who is believed to feel persecuted by the Spanish authorities after being accused of evading £12.8million in tax.

There is, however, one big problem with this argument and that is the fact that Ronaldo signed a new five-year deal with Real only last November.

"The clause for Cristiano is £1bn".

In 2009, Perez - then in his second spell at the club - signed Ronaldo for Real for a then world-record fee of £80m.

Ronaldo has scored 406 goals in 394 appearances for the Spanish club. However, Ronaldo was able to show up in the last month of the season, and that played a crucial role in Real Madrid's ability to become Spanish and European champion.

"He has broken all the records at the club, he has got three Champions Leagues in four years and LaLiga this year". But, like Lionel Messi, his stock is going to fall sometime.

Getting Ronaldo back would tick off all the boxes, as he has shown that he's an incredible goal scorer, along with being one of the most marketable players in the game. He also said he needed to speak to the Portuguese but, with the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation under way, now was not a good time.

It merely adds to the air of uncertainty.

The La Liga giants expect to be compensated for the remainder of Ronaldo's deal at the Bernabeu.
