Trump Confirms He Is Under Investigation Over Comey Firing

Last week, Comey told Congress he believes he was sacked by Trump to undermine the agency's Russian Federation probe. The tweet was not confirmation that the president or his attorney has been informed by the Department of Justice or Mueller that Trump is the subject of an investigation.

The White House has used a memo he wrote to justify Trump's decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, but that Trump action may now be part of the probe.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that Mueller is widening his investigation to examine whether the president attempted to obstruct justice by seeking to alter the direction of the FBI's investigation.

Chris Ruddy, the CEO of Newsmax and an ally of Trump, even floated the idea earlier this week that Trump was prepared to oust Mueller. Thirty-six percent are moderately confident and an equal share of Americans aren't very confident or are not at all so.

He reiterated tweets from Thursday morning about the investigation.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein warned against trusting anonymous sources late Thursday night, shortly before The Washington Post published a damaging story about White House adviser Jared Kushner that relied on unnamed USA officials as sources.

That will only add to a sense of foreboding that pervades the White House, from the crammed collective workspaces of junior officials all the way to the Oval Office.

Trump criticises federal government technology as outdated
Kushner cited some examples of the current technology infrastructure, noting the use of floppy discs in Pentagon "legacy systems". Leaders at Apple and Google were among the American corporate executives who appealed to the president to stay in the pact.

The president didn't clarify what exactly he was referring to in the early morning tweet, however he has frequently described reports about possible ties between members of his campaign and Russian Federation as a "witch hunt".

Dianne Feinstein, top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said she was "increasingly concerned" that Trump will fire both Mueller and Rosenstein. The obstruction of justice investigation into Mr. Trump began days after Mr. Comey was sacked on May 9, according to people familiar with the matter, the Washington Post said. The newspaper noted Mueller had requested interviews with CIA Director Dan Coats, National Security Agency chief Michael Rogers and Richard Ledgett, the former NSA deputy director.

Before his dismissal, Comey confirmed publicly that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was in the midst of investigating potential ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government during the election.

Rosenstein took over the Russian Federation probe soon after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself.

Trump was strongly critical of some of Comey's testimony but said Comey had vindicated him by saying while he was at the agency, Trump was not the subject of the FBI's Russian Federation probe.

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Trump's legal team, also denounced the report, saying: "The FBI leak of information regarding the President is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal". A spokesman for him declined to comment on Wednesday.
