Dad 'Wanted to Kill' Man Who Found His Lost Toddler

Dad 'Wanted to Kill' Man Who Found His Lost Toddler

A man that police say was being a Good Samaritan this weekend when he found a child roaming around a Central Florida park got quite the surprise from the child's father - a beating.

Thinking they were stopping a crime, the father and two friends approached the stranger: As his friends took the toddler away, the father punched the good Samaritan "probably five or six times", he told WFLA. "Before posting information on matters such as this, we encourage people to identify the source and the validity of such claims before sharing them". "I wanted to kill him". "She was wandering off and he did the right thing by going to her, getting her attention, trying to find the parents", stated LPD Sgt. Gary Gross.

Still, when asked whether he believed the man's innocence, the child's father said no. "We had an independent eyewitness that saw him walking around, asking, 'Is this your parents?"

The man, however, ended up being attacked by the child's father, who admitted to punching him repeatedly, according to ABC affiliate WFTS.

"It's understandable how parents can possibly be upset in a situation involving a lost child".

Unsatisfied, the family took to Facebook and shared his name, his profile and pictures of him and his kids, calling him a sexual predator.

"Accounts of this incident have circulated on social media with false information and speculation".

Iraqi Forces Seize More Ground From ISIS in Mosul
The area is believed to pose major challenges for ground forces because of its narrow streets and ISIS's use of human shields. The UN has said that at least 750,000 people have fled since operations to recapture Mosul began.

At some point, the girl started to become agitated, and the Patch says he picked her up and walked her toward a playground in the hopes that he could locate her parents there.

'When I got there, I just swung on him, ' Strickland said.

Gross said. "Call whatever law enforcement agency is in your jurisdiction to get the correct information".

'Posting false information on Facebook could cause a defamation of character claim and those posting false information could be held libel, ' the Lakeland Police Department wrote on its Facebook page. The commotion and confusion was only cleared up after a thorough investigation by the Lakeland Police Department.

When contacted by WFLA, the good Samaritan declined to comment, citing safety concerns and telling reporters he'd left town with his family.

"I was one of those who shared post thinking it was helpful, now I feel very bad that it clearly was not!"

After the police statement made it apparent that the posts were false, the residents began to delete the misinformation from their Facebook feeds. The dad's still not convinced he was trying to help find the girl's parents, but a lot of the nasty posts on social media have been deleted.
