Putney Bridge jogger search resumes after police clear suspect

Putney Bridge jogger search resumes after police clear suspect

Bellquist's lawyers say they have proof the 41-year-old could not have been the jogger on Putney Bridge.

The banker said yesterday that he had "irrefutable proof" that he was in the USA at the time of the incident. "Consequently, we expect a swift resolution to this wholly untrue allegation".

Eric Bellquist was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, but on Saturday police said he had now been eliminated from the inquiry.

Police said last night that he is still under active investigation.

The video, which was released on Monday, shows the bus swerving to avoid the woman and stop so that people could get out and help her back up.

Bellquist's profile on Hutton Collins Partners's website is still up.

Eric Bellquist, an American investment banker and a partner at a private equity firm in London, has been arrested in connection with a frightening attack that saw a woman shoved into the path of an oncoming bus.

The Met Police say enquiries continue to identity the jogger who pushed the female pedestrian into the road.

The bus stopped and passengers tended to the woman following the incident at about 7.40am on May 5. The woman was only saved by the quick-thinking action of a #Bus Driver, whose vehicle could easily have struck her. He was wearing a light grey t-shirt and dark blue shorts.

However, around 15 minutes later, the same jogger returned, passing her again on the bridge and running in the other direction.
