Walmart sorry for 'horrible' gun display

Walmart has apologized for a display inside of one of its stores that appeared to showcase a collection of guns as back-to-school items.

"What's seen in this photograph would never be acceptable in our stores", a Wal-Mart spokesperson said in a statement.

"We regret this situation and are looking into how it could have happened".

Walmart initially denied that the store location was in Evansville.

The retailer tweeted the display was "horrible" and "truly very bad", and said it would investigate how it came to be.

'We have already lost so many innocent lives to guns, ' she told the Post, adding that she drew an immediate connection between firearms and school shootings.

May told the paper she alerted store employees, but they couldn't locate a store manager.

Guardiola: Man City to rein in spending after record outlay
Another season without silverware will raise serious doubts as to whether he really is the man to carry City to the summit of European football for the first time.

One Twitter user had a simple question for Walmart, the largest retailer of firearms and ammunition in the United States: "What are you suggesting?" Walmart, though, apparently has a different idea about what students should be bringing to school (and, for that matter, about what makes a person a hero).

'Is this real? Literally...

'Seriously? I have no words...' read another.

"We agree this was disgusting", a member of Walmart's social media team wrote. It should also be noted that despite its clearly insensitive sign placement, the store is not "selling its guns to schoolchildren". Thanks again for alerting us to this'.

This isn't the first time Walmart's marketing strategy has left consumers outraged.

According to The New York Times, images of the display began circulating on social media before Walmart addressed the situation.
