Yuvraj dropped, Ashwin, Shami rested for SL ODIs and T20I

Struggling batsman Yuvraj Singh was on Sunday dropped from India's limited overs squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka while former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was retained by the selectors.

The other four front-line bowlers for India - Ashwin, Jadeja, Shami and Umesh - have been replaced by nearly like-for-like choices. Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant, who were also part of the squad in that tour, have been left out as well.

Fully aware of spinners' heavy workload during the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka, the team management and national selectors have rested the spinners.

Mumbai batsman Rohit Sharma has been surprisingly named the vice-captain, while opening batsman Lokesh Rahul returned after an injury lay-off.

Chelsea have not followed-up rejected lowball offer for Drinkwater
Drinkwater featured in Europe's premier club competition last season after helping Leicester win the 2015/16 Premier League title. The N'Golo Kante sized hole in the midfield is still haunting them, and another veteran's departure will only add to their woes.

The Virat Kohli-led squad features Manish Pandey and Axar Patel, who are returning to the Indian ODI side after a year's gap, whereas Yuzvendra Chahal has also been recalled to the squad.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the India Cricket Team for the five-match One Day International series and only Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka.

After the ODI series, both sides will lock horns for a lone T20I at the R Premadasa Stadium on 6 September.

India squad Virat Kohli (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (vice-capt), KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Ajinkya Rahane, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur.
