A new Overwatch animated short will debut at Gamescom

Posting on Battle.net, the studio promised its "best show yet", with videos, playable demos, cosplays, meet-and-greets, and more related to its biggest games. Eastern, Blizzard will be unveiling a "special preview video of all the playable content" it'll be showcasing at Gamescom, which includes the brand-new Overwatch map, according to Blizzard's most recent blog post.

Then on Wednesday at the same time there will be a "Blizzard Reveal Ceremony" of new announcements.

Blizzard has today revealed its plans for next week's Gamescom convention, and fans of Overwatch have a lot to be excited about.

The main reveal ceremony, however, comes at 6pm on August 23. Overwatch players can hope to see a brand new map revealed in a Blizzard event preview video on Monday. If we're getting Junkertown as the new map, it's not out of the realm of possibility that the animated short will feature the Australian junkers.

Aside from the new map and the new animated short, those who will attend the Gamescom 2017 will have the chance to play the new map on the game's booth.

Last but containing the highest concentration of both doom and fist, Overwatch FX Artist Rachel Day will deliver a Doomfist making-of presentation at 8am Eastern on August 25.

Blizzard will close things out on Saturday with a cosplay content, a panel hosted by the German Overwatch World Cup team and a variety of smaller events.

Hearthstone players can enjoy an early look at new Fireside Gathering features during gamescom, where they'll join forces in a whole new kind of Fireside Brawl: a group raid against the Lich King.

Overwatch is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Gamers will be able to group up with other gamescom attendees and run through a dungeon from World of Warcraft's upcoming Patch 7.3-details about this content update will be unveiled on stage and via live stream during the Blizzard Reveal Ceremony on Wednesday.

If you're headed to the show, Blizzard will (naturally) be selling plenty of merchandise in its store over in Hall 5.
