Conte calls for patience in pursuit of long-term Chelsea success

The Portuguese manager had purchased him from Benfica during his stint at Chelsea, where he won the League twice, once in 2014, and the second last season, albeit under Antonio Conte.

Conte's decision to allow a host of the club's emerging talent to leave either on loan or permanently this summer underlines the club's concern.

Mourinho does not feel his sale is an excuse, Conte can use to explain Chelsea's failure.

"When people say, for example, Chelsea lost an important midfield player, you know if you lose one but you buy (Tiemoue) Bakayoko and (Danny) Drinkwater (who has been linked with a move from Leicester to Stamford Bridge) for example, what's the problem?" The problem is when you sell and you don't buy, but when sell and you keep buying what's the problem?

"The problem is when you sell and you don't buy".

Lukaku is not the first to open his account on his Premier League debut for the Reds - and with this fact in mind, we're asking you to name every player to score on their Premier League debut for United.

"For me the favourite is the champion, always". We're not the favourites, we're not the dream team, we're just a team with more confidence than last season, with more time to work, more happiness and more relaxed.

He continued: "After every training session, they are waiting for us outside the training ground to take pictures, to give a signature so I think the club is one of the biggest in the world".

He could feature in Sunday's match at Freiburg on the opening weekend of the 2017/18 Bundeliga season. Kevin-Prince will be a leader for the team.

And, ahead of Saturday's trip to Swansea, Mourinho suggested Chelsea remain title favourites.

He added, "For me the favourite is the champion".

"And the question marks somebody puts, if other leagues don't close at the same time, are we in danger of losing players in the last couple of weeks?" Probably a point will be an incredible result but we are not going to any match thinking that way. Sometimes you can win but you are not building something positive for your future.

Since the end of last season, transfer records have been shattered across the country as over one billion pounds has changed hands in a frenzy that could well set a new high for a single window. "If we don't win, we don't win".

Conte said: "We are ready to fight with all our strength to face this hard situation".

"Because as a pure attacking player, Anthony is a good player". "I have faith in him [Martial], said the manager".

Paul Merson says the so-called relationship "crisis" between Antonio Conte and Chelsea is being blown out of proportion.

"I don't go into any match this season thinking that the opponent is better than us, we are going to try and have a point".
