Eagles trade Tobin to Seattle for draft pick

The Eagles made a trade on Monday, sending offensive tackle Matt Tobin and a 2018 7th-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2018 fifth-round pick. Philadelphia will also ship a seventh-round pick to Seattle in the exchange.

Fant tore his ACL Friday night in Seattle's 20-13 preseason win over the the Vikings. Seattle now has a choice regarding how it rearranges its line: keep free agent acquisition Luke Joeckel at left guard or relocate him to left tackle, his original National Football League position.

Tobin appeared on Philadelphia's Injured Reserve list last December with an MCL sprain.

Tobin played in his final 22 games as a guard and as a tackle while with the Hawkeyes, and his versatility on the offensive line was noted by NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo. The Jacksonville Jaguars remade Joeckel as a left guard to start last season, and the Seahawks now have him there. Although Tobin was listed as a tackle in the official trade announcement, the 27-year-old played multiple positions on the offensive line while he was in Philadelphia.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced Fant is expected to undergo season-ending ACL/MCL surgery on Monday. Halapoulivaati Vaitai is the backup right tackle and the likely swing tackle.
