Donations from ADGP members, like Boise Paper, enabled the Red Cross to be among the first responders on the ground, preparing for the large response effort as Hurricane Harvey bore down on Texas and Louisiana. Many of these emergencies involve volunteers helping people living nearby. This will be the first time the American Red Cross tests a tethered drone to assess damage after a major natural disaster in the U.S., the organisations said. We've already seen a real outpouring of support from people here in the St. Louis area.

Manhattan, NY In light of the unprecedented events of the past several weeks, REDinNYC is partnering with the American Red Cross for its next event to raise funds for Harvey and Irma relief efforts.

"It's essential that public and private organizations work together to find new and innovative solutions to support and enhance recovery efforts after a natural disaster strikes", UPS Foundation President Eduardo Martinez said in a statement.

The Red Cross sheltered almost 40,000 people at almost 300 shelters at the height of the disaster, and has served more than 1.2 million meals and snacks. Upon completion of the course, volunteers will take two additional on-line class assignments and will then be eligible to deploy to Texas or Florida to help those impacted by the hurricanes.
