Juncker Encourages Western Balkans On EU Membership, Criticizes Turkey

Addressing lawmakers at the European Parliament, Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said the EU is "bouncing back" after a tough decade that's seen much of the 28-country mired in an economic crisis and Britain vote to leave. The Luxembourg politician is due to bow out of Brussels shortly after the United Kingdom exits the EU in spring 2019, meaning next year's State of the Union address will be less policy-focused and more concerned with summing up Mr Juncker's legacy.

With all European Union countries finally recording growth after the traumas of the eurozone debt crisis, and unemployment at pre-crisis lows, Juncker is set to turn to the question of how bloc pushes forward with what officials called the "change in the wind". But we are going to make progress. "Europe can deliver for its citizens where and when it matters".

Following two days of debate, parliamentarians will decide late Monday whether - in principle - to incorporate all existing European Union law into the domestic British statute books when Britain leaves the European Union in March 2019. It's also had to contend with a series of currencies afflicting the countries - now 19 - that use the euro as their currency.

After fierce criticism from Britain over inefficiency in the EU, Juncker proposed that his role as president of the European Commission be merged with that of the European Council.

"Journalists belong in newsrooms not in prisons".

"I am not calling for a new position just for the sake of it.

We will move on because Brexit isn't everything, it's not the future of everything, it's not the be all and end all".

Stop being lazy: Why you should read the book before you see the movie
Skipping reading a book before you watch a film means missing out on letting your imagination provide the images while you read. In that scenario, those who haven’t read the book first are much better off! There’s always an exception...

The Independent revealed how European Union sources have already warned Britain not to use that strength as leverage, one saying: "The days of gunboat diplomacy are over". It's not the future of Europe.

He also issued a warning to Britian, which is now slowly progressing with exit negotiations, saying that "we will always regret this, and I think you will regret this too, soon".

"We want to fight terrorism together".

While he praised efforts that have sharply reduced migrant flows, he said Europe must continue to provide refuge to those fleeing persecution. Around the same time, several members of the European Union expressed growing discontent over how to handle the migrant crisis, while euroskeptic right-wing parties in several member states gained support.

Organizers of the "People's March for Europe" said the goal was to "unite, rethink and reject" the Conservative government's plan to implement Brexit by 2019.

Juncker said that he would also propose that the eurozone's bailout fund, the European Stability Mechanism, become a full fledged European Monetary Fund.
