North Korea Is Pushing Its Limits With The Trump Administration

North Korea launched what appeared to be an intermediate-range ballistic missile over northern Japan early Friday (local time), defying worldwide calls to halt its provocations.

North Korea has been the most perplexing foreign policy problem facing the Trump administration in its first year in office, with their now repeated missile tests and one nuclear test putting pressure on the President to have a plan should tensions escalate.

In a statement, the Security Council said the launch was carried out just three weeks after a first missile overflew Japan and less than two weeks after Pyongyang's sixth and biggest nuclear test.

"What we are seeing is they continue to be provocative, they continue to be reckless".

"We ought to make clear what's different about this approach is that we're out of time", McMaster said. The US must follow through on Defence Secretary Mattis's much needed "iron-clad" guarantees to Japan and South Korea by reinforcing America's military presence in the region.

"At that point, you know, there's not a whole lot the Security Council is going to be able to do", Ambassador Nikki Haley said, claiming global sanctions already have cut off 90 percent of North Korea's trade and 30 percent of its oil.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called for new sanctions "to be firmly imposed" in response to the latest North Korean missile test that violated Japanese airspace. North Korea also has the world's largest standing army.

Chidambaram Takes Stand For Son Karti, Says CBI Spreading Misinformation
Earlier on Wednesday, the CBI summoned Karti in connection with a money laundering probe in the Aircel-Maxis deal. In a series of tweets, Mr Chidambaram accused the probe agency of spreading misinformation.

Trump's United Nations envoy called North Korea "reckless".

Also on the agenda: the Iran nuclear deal, Mideast peace, and United Nations reform efforts. South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who ran on a platform of improved relations and expanded dialogue with Pyongyang, said after Thursday's missile launch that "dialogue is impossible in a situation like this".

On Friday, the U.N. Security Council condemned North Korea's "highly provocative" test of an intermediate-range missile, which hurtled over USA ally Japan into the northern Pacific Ocean. "China and Russian Federation must indicate their intolerance for these reckless missile launches by taking direct actions of their own", Tillerson said.

"There is a military option", H.R. McMaster said during a press briefing at the White House, flanked by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

The White House said that President Donald Trump will meet the leaders of Japan and South Korea in NY next week to discuss the urgent threat posed by North Korea. Dictator Kim Jong-un has repeatedly threatened to attack both Guam and Japan with missiles, possibly using nuclear warheads.

Former top White House aide Steve Bannon told a reporter in August that there are no military solutions for North Korea.

The latest missile test raises therefore important questions about the credibility of USA extended deterrence and the protective strategic umbrella that America provides to Japan and South Korea.
