As many as 44 candidates are in the run although key contestants are Begum Kulsoom Nawaz representing Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Dr. Yasmin Rashid of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Faisal Mir of Pakistan Peoples Party. However, the ECP has made it clear that the MML is not a registered party.

The disqualification issue was strongly highlighted by the both sides in their election campaigns with PML-N condemning it and declaring it the result of a conspiracy and PTI presenting it as a proof of ruling family's alleged corruption. Extra police and Rangers personnel are deployed across NA-120, with the Pakistan Army in support.

All polling stations in the NA-120 constituency have been declared as sensitive, sources informed Geo News on Thursday. A total of 324,786 registered voters can exercise their right to cast the ballot.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized all arrangements to hold bye-election in NA-120 Lahore-III in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner on Sunday.

He said that 220 Presiding Officer, 573 Assistant Presiding Officers and 573 Polling Officers would discharge their duties on the polling day.

The polling for by-election in Lahore's NA-120 constituency has begun at 8am and will continue till 5pm amid stringent security measures.

Postal ballot has been allowed for public servants working in other cities and the prisoners.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has set up 220 polling stations for the voters.

The biometric verification machines can only verify thumb impressions of a voter and cannot be used for casting votes electronically. ANP candidate Amir Bahadur Khan Hoti also has withdrawn in support of Kalsoom.

Kulsoom Nawaz is the wife of former premier Nawaz Sharif while Faisal Mir is the younger brother of top anchorperson Hamid Mir.
