US Judge Urges Government to Extend 'Dreamers' Deadline

There's no reason this opportunity should not extend to young immigrants brought here as children who know no other home. DACA applicants had to be younger than 31 years old and prove they've continuously lived in the United States since June 15, 2007 and had arrived before the age of 16. They grew up singing the Star Spangled Banner and pledging allegiance to the American flag. "If they can't, I will revisit this issue!" he tweeted on the day of the DACA announcement.

"While there have been diverse responses to the rescission of DACA on college campuses, there is widespread disappointment among higher education leaders regarding the President's decision", explains Lynn Pasquerella, president of American Association of Colleges and Universities.

The move to rescind DACA, the complaint alleges, means that the city has had to prepare for the possibility that the U.S. Congress won't come to an agreement on DACA by March 5, 2018 and that the city will no longer be able to employ DACA recipients because they are no longer legally allowed to work in the country.

But today, across the nation, thousands of Dreamers - and their families and friends - are afraid. "We need to stop illegal immigration before having a conversation about DACA". As of 2017, approximately 800,000 individuals-referred to as "DREAMers", named for legislation known as the DREAM Act-were enrolled in the program created by DACA. In response to DACA, they bravely stepped out of the shadows several years ago and declared their undocumented status to the US government in exchange for the opportunity to live without fear, to be able to get a driver's license and apply for a job without the threat of deportation.

He cited a study by the Center for American Progress that reported ending DACA would cost the country $433 billion in gross domestic product during the next decade. You get more than a million determined, hardworking young people who will continue to make this country stronger and more prosperous. The deportation clock is ticking. I'll tell you what you get for passing the Dream Act.

Speaking to reporters on a trip to visit Hurricane Irma survivors in Naples, Florida, Trump said funding the wall did not have to be part of a DACA deal, but he expected Democrats to pledge not to obstruct the wall's construction.

Singapore condemns North Korea's ballistic missile test
NATO has called for "a global response" to North Korea's ballistic missile tests early on Friday. "Those who tied the knots are responsible for untying [them]".

The public back-and-forth exemplifies a tightrope the Trump White House is having to walk: The President is so eager to strike a deal from the Oval Office, given his entire persona is defined by him being a deal-making businessman-turned-politician, that he is sometimes willing to break with his base and past comments to do so. And so we'll see where it goes from here.

"This is unfortunate at a time when it is more critical than ever for students to be in diverse learning environments that foster cultural competence, global understanding". "Congress must pass a clean Dream Act to protect our communities".

Pelosi also said they had discussed with Trump a bill that would allow DACA recipients to eventually become citizens.

My final message is for all the Dreamers out there who are in despair: do not lose faith.

He ended the address by calling on immigrants protected under DACA to not lose faith and to keep working for their families, community, and country.
